I recently got back into my daily journaling habit.

I have journaled all my life since I was a kid (blame it on my borderline hypergraphia) until a couple of months ago when this habit somehow slipped away.

But I am back on it now and I do journal for extensive time periods and multiple times a day.

It’s made me once again remember and realize how important this one habit it.

It is on my list of truly life-changing habits.

So if you are not journaling daily, I’d highly recommend you begin it, even if it’s for 5-10 minutes.

Just getting all your mental clutter out on the paper is sooo cathartic.

With that, let’s get started.

#1 Journal Prompt to make you more Self-Aware

Fact: Psychological studies suggest that deeply held beliefs, more than external factors, limit our potential.

Often, the more we try to change these beliefs with force, the more they persist.

The only solution: Eliminating the limiting belief from the root.

Identify a belief that's limiting you from being the most confident version of yourself.

Where did it begin from?

Who/what incidents put it in your mind? What was the situation?

How does it come into play in your daily life? Mention any instances.

How would you operate in day-to-day life if it wasn’t limiting you?

Write about the above questions in your journal and reflect on what comes up when you ask yourself these questions consciously.

Before we dive deeper, an announcement.

I am running one round of Subconscious Mind Reprogramming Kit before the year ends. It may not be available to enroll in after this for the remaining 2023.

If you’re interested in taking control of your subconscious mind and programming yourself to achieve your personal success/happiness/mastery before 2023 ends – enroll here before enrollment closes.

#1 Concept/framework to become the highest version of yourself

The Law of Reversed Effort

The law of reversed effort suggests that trying too hard can be counterproductive.

According to this principle, the more you consciously push for something, the more psychological resistance you create.

It's like trying to float in water; the more you tense up and struggle, the more likely you are to sink. But if you relax, you float effortlessly.

Or imagine you're trying really hard to remember the name of a movie you watched. The harder you try to remember it, the more it seems to slip away from your mind. But then, when you stop trying so hard and relax, suddenly the name of the movie just pops into your head.

Or just think about when you're playing a video game and you're so close to beating a level. If you get really nervous and keep thinking, "I must not lose," sometimes that makes you mess up. But if you're relaxed and not worrying about losing, you often do better.

The law of reversed effect encourages us to adopt a more relaxed, trust-based approach toward our goals and desires.

And sometimes, the best approach is to stop pushing so hard and just go with the flow.

Ain’t it?

#1 Book of the Week

As A Man Thinketh by James Allen

As A Man Thinketh is a self-help book that delves into the idea that an individual's thoughts shape their character, life, and ultimately their destiny. Allen draws inspiration from the biblical proverb, "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he," emphasizing the power of thought in shaping our experiences.

My Key Learnings and Insights:

  • Power of Thought: Your thoughts have a profound impact on your life. Thoughts are like seeds that, when planted in the mind, dictate your actions, character, and ultimately your life circumstances.

  • Character Shaped by Thought: Your character is the complete sum of your thoughts. By changing and molding your thoughts, you can transform your character.

  • Purposeful Thinking for Achievement: The more purposeful thinking you do toward your goal (rather than “wishful” thinking), the easier it becomes to accomplish that specific goal.

  • Self-Mastery through Thought Control: You should strive for complete self-mastery by controlling one's thoughts. Thought control is the path to total personal freedom and empowerment.

  • Influence of Thoughts on Environment: Finally, Allen highlights how your thoughts not only shape you but also influence those around you, affecting your environment and relationships.

Some thoughts to ponder on:

"Men do not attract that which they want, but that which they are."

"Circumstances do not make the man, they reveal him."

"A man cannot directly choose his circumstances, but he can choose his thoughts, and so indirectly, yet surely, shape his circumstances."

"The body is the servant of the mind. It obeys the operations of the mind, whether they be deliberately chosen or automatically expressed."

To summarize the book:

"As A Man Thinketh" by James Allen explores the powerful idea that personal growth and success stem from our thoughts. To harness this, focus on cultivating powerful and purposeful thoughts.

Recognize that your character and circumstances are reflections of your inner mindset.

By consciously directing your thoughts toward your goals and maintaining a positive perspective, you can shape your character, influence your environment, and overcome challenges.

Embrace mental discipline and self-mastery to control negative thoughts, fostering a mindset geared towards growth and achievement.

This intentional thought process will accelerate your personal development, leading to a more fulfilled and successful life.

I highly recommend reading this one tiny book (it’s only 70 pages) at least once every single year.
