Self-discipline is always a function of one’s willpower.

You have to develop it.

​How do you develop self-discipline?

By not doing indiscipline.

​If you don’t do indiscipline, you do discipline.

​By deploying what you do and how you do it - you develop discipline.

Here are some of the effective ways to develop self-discipline:

1. Resist Impulses:

  • Resist ALL impulses to check social media

  • Resist all impulses of automatic habits

  • Resist all impulses to buy something

  • Resist all impulses to grab a snack

  • Resist all impulses to switch tasks


2. Be Organised At All Times:

  • Keep yourself clean

  • Keep mess out of your life

  • Keep your desk, room, house, laptop, etc. clean & organized


3. Stick To A Plan:

  • Plan your days/weeks/months in advance

  • Be deliberate & stick to that plan

  • Say no to anything that isn’t a part of that plan


4. Be Persistent:

  • Don’t give in to drama

  • Don’t give in to the fear of failure

  • Don’t waver in what you want to do

  • Don’t give in to emotions (they are temporary)


5. Endure Pain:

  • Confront difficulties

  • Take up challenges

  • Love the pain that comes from not giving in

  • Don’t try to dodge the discomfort, in fact, seek it

  • Confront difficulties that arise from the struggle

  • Really endure the pain that arises from resisting day-to-day impulses
